Physio ——> Headrest!!!

Jess’ rider mentioned the left rein was feeling “stuffy” during dressage training 🐴

After a full body palpation it was clear there was some tension in the right lumbar spine, right poll, and right base of the neck (preventing her feeling comfortable bending round into the left contact).

Some massage, laser, pulsed mag, and stretches were used to relieve tension which Jess LOVED 😇❤️

The most beautiful dog! Parker suffers from arthritis in his elbow joints bilaterally. This often flares up in the colder/damper weather and therefore he has physio every 2/3 weeks to maintain this. The arthritis causes him to compensate his weight load and therefore he often gets hypertonic in the lumbar region. He thoroughly enjoys his massage and laser 👌

Probably one of my most handsome clients 😀 Mr Parker has monthly physiotherapy to manage arthritis in his elbows and hindlimb joints.

This is lovely Travis who has had some exercises added in to his physiotherapy regime in order to maintain strength in his hindlimbs as he enters the grand age of 14!

Along with weekly hydrotherapy, acupuncture, and physiotherapy (in the form of laser and massage) he now has some remedial exercise to be getting on with! We have included sit to stand exercises, cavaletti poles,and some weight shifting up on the blocks! 🏋️‍♂️

Gorgeous Mr Casper this morning!

Casper is now nearly 5 months post IVDD surgery and is doing amazingly! His physio sessions are gradually increasing his exercise intensity 😊

A great day at the Heathfield Show today ⭐️ I had the opportunity to meet so many lovely horse, dog, and cat owners which is just amazing 🤩 Very fortunate to all family and friends who helped me out, especially Mum who I dragged along for the day 😊

Ever seen a more relaxed dog?!!!

This is Ziggy, he is a 6 month old Whippet who I am seeing weekly following a Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture and subsequent repair. He is doing very very well on crate rest (despite being a rather excitable 6 month old puppy 🤩). Two more weeks of confinement, a check up and then we can include some remedial exercises in our physiotherapy sessions 🤞 At the moment we are focusing on maintaining good muscle function, tone and joint mobility as well as addressing any areas of movement compensation 👍

🐈 Rocco 🐈

This is Rocco, a referral client from the holistic vets who has unexplained nerve dysfunction. After much testing at the vets, the cause of Rocco’s lack of mobility is unknown and therefore his treatment now is aimed at maintaining his muscle mass and joint mobility whilst continuing his education in walking again!

I have been seeing Rocco for 8 weeks and he has made huge progress as a result of Laser, PEMFT, massage, stretching and ROM. He receives acupuncture and Chinese herbs alongside his physiotherapy. Rocco certainly has baffled vets with his diagnosis but his progress is great 😊

⚡️New Electrotherapy Day ⚡️

Today I received a new piece of electrotherpay equipment I have waited a long time to own😃

This is called Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) ⭐️ The PEMF device creates an electromagnetic field within the body of the horse/dog which ultimately stimulates the body’s own magnetism to effectively promote the ideal conditions for healing. The magnetic field results in an increased electrolyte and ion state which increases metabolism of the cell (promoting healing ✅).

Ultimately, the PEMF stimulates the recovery process to allow for speedy recovery!

It is used to:

• Relieve pain due to musculoskeletal dysfunction
• Increase the rate of bone fracture healing
• Increase nerve conduction and sensitivity
• Reduce swelling and oedema

My new piece of equipment is as easily transportable as my other electrotherapies so you may see it in use at your next appointment ⚡️

1. Poppy: a cocker spaniel who is entering her older years and has physiotherapy every fortnight to maintain suppleness and function 😀

2. Bailey (pictured): who is an older labrador who also receives physio to increase functionality of his hindlimbs as well as reduce pain in his lumbar region 🦮

3. Petran: a rescue dog from Greece who struggles with “stiffness” when getting up off his bed and also shows some poor behavioural signs potentially linked to pain, it was my first time meeting Petran and he loved his session 😇

4. Charlie: a shih-zu who is old and really struggles with his locomotion, Charlie is also deaf and blind and therefore his weekly physio session brings him much joy and he is always incredibly welcoming ⭐️

✅ Canine First Aid ✅

For 3 evenings this week I have been undergoing a canine first aid course. It has been really insightful and we have covered everything from CPR, choking and bleeding to burns, scalds and what to do when a dog has ingested something toxic.

I hope this gives my clients confidence and fingers crossed I never have to actually use anything i’ve learned this week 🤞

I’d really recommend undergoing a first aid course, whether you are a dog owner, walker, groomer or fellow physiotherapist! 😊

Another lovely boy from today! This is Simba who is having physiotherapy to strengthen his hindlimbs to improve his posture and locomotive function 💪 He was such a good boy for his session, despite being a very overly friendly, happy boy! 😊

Luna was such a good girl today for her first ever physio session. She was extremely nervous but warmed up to me and was very relaxed at the end of the treatment. 😀🐾

This is Foxy, a Husky X who is undertaking the South Downs Way walk at the weekend which is 100 miles long! 🏔️ She had a session to keep her on top top condition pre hike and I will be seeing her next week once she’s completed it 💪 Foxy’s owner has said the dog is getting better treatment than herself!! 😀

⭐️ Boo Boo ⭐️

I met the lovely Boo today 8 weeks post Patella Luxation surgery in order to increase muscle mass and encourage full use of the limb. She was a very good patient and benefitted from some laser and massage before doing some exercises which are going to benefit her in between her physiotherapy sessions 😊
